U3 Ventures redeveloped a two-story building at 11th and Chestnut Street in Center City Philadelphia for MilkBoy – a bar, restaurant, and music venue.
After acquiring the vacant corner property that sat adjacent to Thomas Jefferson University, but in the center of a moribund commercial corridor, U3 Ventures developed the site exclusively for the MilkBoy proprietors, who were looking to expand beyond their existing suburban Philadelphia coffee shop. The design and program maximizes the entirety of the fully renovated building and hours of usage, with:
- A full kitchen, two bars, and roll-up garage doors opening to 11th Street
- Early morning coffee service catering to nearby healthcare professionals
- The only dedicated live music venue in Philadelphia’s Central Business District
U3 Ventures worked with the City of Philadelphia Commerce Department, and non-profits such as the Merchant Fund to finance the renovation and fit-out. MilkBoy opened in August of 2011.
